The Center for the Arts at Cypress Lake High School, an “Arts Achieve Model School”, was created in 1994 to offer an enriched arts education for high school students with a passion and talent in music, theatre, dance, visual arts or media arts. The program is designed to develop both the artistic and academic skills of talented students who may be interested in artistic careers or who may choose to develop their artistic talents for self-fulfillment.
The application process for students who wish to be part of the Center for the Arts begins in January, with auditions typically being held in February for the upcoming school year. Once selected to be part of the Center, students take their academic classes at the main campus each day, along with classes in their chosen art form with their Center teachers.
Center for the Arts teachers are highly qualified in their field, with numerous additional degrees and years of experience, meeting the needs of the Cypress High student population. All works created under the direction of Center for the Arts teachers are professional, unique and considered some of the finest in Florida, extremely competitive among other arts schools throughout the nation.
Students graduating with a certificate from the Center for the Arts at Cypress Lake High School take with them an unparalleled appreciation for life and the arts, filled with critical thinking skills as well as problem-solving techniques. They are ready to become contributing citizens to our ever changing world.
