The Ninth Annual Alumni Banquet will continue the celebration of 50 years of MSA. We are confirming the date and location but hope to welcome back many alums to Penn’s campus in April for the event.
The Eighth Annual Alumni Banquet marked 50 years of the MSA at Penn and over 100 alums and students reunited on April 20, 2013. The event featured keynote speaker Sohaib Sultan (Chaplain at Princeton University) as well as a Nasheed performance by Penn’s first Islamic acapella group. Spotlight Awards were given to Artina Sheikh (’08), Muhga Eltigani (’14), and Ismail Ahmad (PhD Candidate).
The Seventh Annual Alumni Banquet took place on April 7, 2012 at Bodek Lounge and nearly 100 alums plus students got together to celebrate another year. This was the first time Spotlight Awards were given to 1 student and 1 alum who made significant contributions to the greater Penn Muslim community. Congratulations to Ben Herzig (’03) and Mohammed Hussain (’13)!
The Sixth Annual Alumni Banquet was held on April 16, 2011 at Hall of Flags on Penn’s campus. Over 75 students and alums gathered to reunite and share a night of memories and laughter.
The Fifth Annual Alumni Banquet took place on April 10, 2010 at the Bodek Lounge on Penn campus. The event continued the tradition of strengthening ties between Penn Muslims, past and present, and saw the highest turnout ever.
The Fourth Annual Alumni Banquet took place on April 18, 2009 on Penn’s own campus in the underground of 1920 Commons. It was a wonderful evening that included presentations by fellow alumni on strengthening our presence and establishing the Penn MSA Endowment. We had a turnout of 50+ alums and students.
The Third Annual Alumni Banquet took place on April 12, 2008 on Penn’s campus in Huntsman Hall. It was a wonderful evening that included presentations by fellow alumni on strengthening our presence and establishing the Penn MSA Endowment. We had a turnout of 40+ alums and students.
The MSA held its 2nd annual Alumni Dinner at Shahnawaz Palace, New Jersey on April 21, 2007. The event had a strong attendance of 30+ alumni. There were some great ideas brought up for increasing the alumni involvment in the MSA, as well as setting up a platform for the alumni to stay actively in touch with each other. The MSA will be working towards implementing many of these ideas in the near future.
This was the inaugural year of the Alumni Dinner and it was held at a restaurant in Center City Philadelphia. It was intimate gathering of 25 students+alumni. The MSA and alumni committees look forward to continuing this tradition in future years.
